Éditions critiques relatives à l’Université de Paris (ECRU)

The ECRU (Éditions Critiques Relatives à l'Université) project, supported by Biblissima+, aims to produce a digital edition (XML-TEI) of critical editions of acts and letters related to the ancient university of Paris, published between the 17th and 19th centuries.

This impressive corpus will be OCRed and semi-automatically encoded, in order to facilitate exploration by researchers using several entry points (such as names of places, persons, communities and conservation institutions), and will be made available online. The Chartularium Universitatis Parisiensis by Heinrich Denifle and Emile Châtelain (four volumes containing two thousand six hundred pages) will be treated first. In the long term, the project also aims to process other sources such as the Auctarium Chartularii by the same authors, or the Index Chronologicus by Charles Jourdain.

The digitisation of the documents and their critical edition will also feed the repositories of Biblissima and the ORESM project (currently being carried out by the BIS and the LaMOP), as well as the general inventory of the archives of the former university, which is planned to be created within the framework of ORESM.
