Biblissima’s First Prototype on Illuminated Manuscripts Now Online

Prototype Initiale-Mandragore : notice d'une enluminure

Biblissima's first prototype, which brings together the two iconographic databases Initiale (IRHT) and Mandragore (BnF), is now freely available online. In this prototype, it is possible to search for and view manuscript illuminations from two different databases in a single interface. At present, only a part of each database is accessible: only those illuminations that depict geographic locations (whether real, historical or fictional) can be viewed. This prototype is a first step in the development of the Biblissima portal and will be expanded to include more records from the Initiale and Mandragore databases, as well as data from other Biblissima resources.

We invite you to discover the Initiale-Mandragore prototype, which can be accessed from Biblissima’s demo website. On this site you will also find some sample searches and tips on how to use the prototype, as well as further information on its development (in French).

Please feel free to send any feedback or questions you may have regarding the prototype tometadata@biblissima-condorcet.fr. We welcome all comments and suggestions.
